It's maybe not the sexiest or most viral of app categories, utilities, but AudioRoo is here to keep your audio files off sketchy websites. Alternatives look like they were built in 2000, because some of them were. I wanted something made with some care, not another app called Audio Converter. This v2 redesign is the result: a kangaroo pouch you drag files into, a color palette and icons chosen with care, and scoped features, all with the goal of feeling user-friendly and human-made.
A couple more things:
The FFmpeg build inside is current, including the recently rewritten AAC encoder, rather than one from the stone ages. Licensing, source, versions and build details are published rather than quietly bundled in without crediting the open-source libraries.
There's a command monitor that shows the exact FFmpeg command for whatever settings you've picked, so you can build a command in the GUI and run it in Terminal if you'd rather.
MP3 conversion is free and unlimited, including batch processing and advanced settings. Other formats get 15 free conversions each, then a one-time unlock.
The goal was to ship something small, memorable and finished.
Now being honest, I have no cohort of minions users to come upvote this, this whole post is just meant as a solid SEO backlink so google will stop suggesting: did you mean AudioROOT?? No I did not!

Also, not required, but I would be genuinely be interested to hear: What do you use to convert audio? Does it run off FFmpeg? Is it some App from before 1990? Do you just prefer the command line or is it even worth paying for a GUI? If you are here, I would be happy to know more, otherwise, good luck out there.
