If you are carrying unspoken grief, workplace burnout, an identity crisis, or just a sense of quiet existential dread, you don't have to hold it all inside. Ask A Monk is an independent, non-religious, algorithm-free digital sanctuary. It is built as an Anonymous Asynchronous Writing Sanctuary for Heavy Questions—a place completely free of sign-ups, emails, or the social anxiety of instant messaging.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Ask A Monk after a moment that's honestly a little embarrassing to admit: I asked ChatGPT something I'd been carrying around for weeks — not a hard question, just a heavy one — and the answer came back instantly, well-worded, technically right. And I closed the tab feeling exactly as alone as before I asked.
That's when it hit me: some questions were never really requests for information. They were requests to not be alone with something for a minute. And AI, no matter how good it gets, structurally can't offer that — it's never actually been afraid, never made a decision it regretted for years, never lain awake at 3am with the same question unsolved.
So I built the opposite of a chatbot. Ask A Monk is anonymous, free, and every single answer comes from a real human stranger — never AI. No accounts, no algorithms deciding who sees what, no history attached to you. You write down what's on your mind, and a stranger with nothing to gain and nothing to judge writes back.
It's a small, solo project — I've spent the last few months building it alone, rewriting the same three lines of homepage copy more times than I'd like to admit, trying to get the tone right (turns out "quiet and human" is a lot harder to design than it sounds).
Would genuinely love your feedback — especially if anything feels off, confusing, or like it could be more honest. And if you've ever had a question you didn't know who to ask, this might be the place. 🙏
