What do you think? …

Kaylem Buckner
Looks like most of the resources here are either: 1. horribly out of date (who cares about 2019 info?) 2. thinly veiled self promo A bunch of the "mentors" are just people who recommend one resource, which is something that they themselves wrote. Many of these resources that are part of the mentor's "path" didn't even exist during the mentor's APM recruiting process. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a scheme to get more backlinks to people's sites, or pick up affiliate revenue. As far as the fundamental product idea β€” How does it make it easier to learn what to do to become a PM when you have over 150 links, many of which have contradicting advice? I wouldn't recommend this product to new PMs.

@kaylem_buckner ahh this is so unfortunate to hear and it's a shame the site didn't resonate with you! We appreciate the feedback, but do want to assure you (and other new community members) that we created APM Map with the intention to help out aspiring PMs on their often-unique recruiting journey. Given everyone's journey is not a "one size fits all", this even includes hearing what could be contradicting advice from old and new resources alike. APM recruiting has become increasingly competitive and we believe that knowing others in the industry, and the ability to reach out to them or learn more about what resources they have (or would have) used is incredibly valuable.

Hey friends! πŸ‘‹ Hope you've been taking lots of care ❀️ After working on APM Map πŸ—ΊοΈ for the past five months, Jeff & I are so excited to finally share it with the (Product Hunt) world 🌏 APM Map πŸ—ΊοΈ is the result of my journey into Associate Product Management (APM) - a.k.a. one of the hardest recruiting cycles I ever had to go through. After reflecting on my many interview failures & rejections, I realized that my life would've been 10x easier if I had all types of APM interview prep resources in one place for easy access & discovery. So in June 2020, this is exactly what Jeff and I set out to create πŸ₯³ With APM Map, you can: β€’ Access a directory of 180+ APM recruiting resources (all for free!) β€’ Filter resources by Interview Prep stage β€” from applying to APM programs to acing your final onsite interview β€’ See what resources current APMs recommend, from companies like Google, Yahoo, Twitter, and more If you're an aspiring PM looking to navigate the APM recruiting process β†’ we write a weekly APM Map newsletter where we share tips for the APM recruiting journey, as well as ways to practice mindfulness & self-care in the midst of recruiting stress. You can sign up here: https://apmmap.substack.com/welcome If you're a current PM and would like to be featured on APM Map as a Mentor β†’ we'd love to have you! You can sign up here: https://forms.gle/RNSroNXR1KVYa3Ri8 Here's to finding your own path ✨

Nice work! Love the map concept/interaction on the directory page. Would love to feature this on the Resources page of Break Into Product if you're open to it: https://www.breakintoproduct.org/

@mbusel We would love that - thanks for thinking of us, Matthew! We'd love to feature Break into Product on APM Map as well - we can add it this weekend :)

This is super cool, really well done Michelle! As someone who has just been through the process of applying to APM roles, I SO WISH that I'd had the APM Map. I have never found a true all-in-one resource like this written by someone who has just nailed the process themselves. Highly recommend πŸ‘

@maxbeech You are the best, Max!! We are so lucky to have you as an APM Map Mentor :')

Hey everyone! Technical co-creator of APM Map πŸ—ΊοΈ here and I wanted to give a quick shoutout, introduction of who I am, and a bit about how this was built! First, echoing the sentiments of @musingsbymima, I truly want to thank everyone that's supported us in our journey thus far β€” creators for sharing their breadth of knowledge about APM recruiting and mentors for resonating with tons of aspiring PMs in this new community we've built. We truly appreciate you πŸ™ As for me, my name is Jeff: QuestBridge / Columbia alum, current Software Engineer at Mailchimp, and aspiring creator (of not just code). From a technical perspective, APM Map is an optimized web application built using Gatsby, React, Material UI and Framer Motion. I've learned so much, truly enjoyed building this and am so excited to now share it with Product Hunt peeps πŸŽ‰ I'm super open to questions, feedback or even feature requests so comment away! And if you're curious, check out some of the code for this here: https://github.com/jf2978/apm-map

This is such a great resource as I hear from aspiring PMs that I've already shared it with and I certainly wish I had this when I was recruiting for APM roles. Great work team!
