Hi Product Hunters! The intention of ActivShield is to provide with a simple first-line-of-security for micro-enterprises that do not have the time or a large budget to protect their most precious online asset, their website. Are you worried about who visits your website? Possible competitors investigating to copy your every move? Are hackers profiling you? Would you feel safer if you could block specific people from visiting your website? ActivShield can be used for free, check us out and let us know what you think!

Hi Cariel, your product looks great. May I know the exact functionality of the services you offer?
Cariel Cohen
@hackingtag Hi Areeb, Thanks. We offer the functionality to block using GeoLocation or simply using an IP Address. The app allows you to customize where the visitor is redirected when "blocked". It really takes a couple minutes to setup. Please create a free account, no credit card needed and let me know what you think. Thanks.

@ccohen55 Hi Cariel, Interesting concept! How do you control/block malicious bots that access the site on a server level and not a browser/JS level?
Cariel Cohen
@kaloyanyankulov Hi Kalo. Thanks for reaching out. Our API can be used on server side calls as well. The reason why we initially offer browser/JS is to make it easy for a non-technical person to get going.

Hello @ccohen55. Don't you have a problem whith your princing plan ? (I may have missed the K behind the number of views) I dont consider some of my websites like big websites, but I can break the advanced plan's page view limit in one day, almost with each.
Cariel Cohen
@alban Hi Alban, thanks for the feedback, we are exploring increasing our plan/page view numbers after seeing some of the feedback we have received.

I am going to be a little critical here just because this product has me scratching my head. I am a little confused... are you supposed to stare at the dashboard all day and when you see a visit that looks suspicious then you click them and block them? It seems like a lot of work for very little/ no gain. Blocking your competitors is completely impractical. If they want to see your website, they will look at your website. If you live in fear of your competitors seeing your website then your company is probably built on a house of cards and you have much bigger problems. I can understand the idea of blocking hackers to some extent, but how would you know they were a hacker? You could block all traffic from Turkey or the Ukraine i suppose, but that can easily be done through your DNS or a CDN. Once again if you live in fear of being hacked then the better solution would be to lock down your site's security. Then your main fear would be DDOS attacks, which again are easily handled through the use of a CDN. The pricing is a little confusing too. With only 500 pageviews per month, im not sure if this would be practical for anyone. That is only 16 pageviews per day which is basically like 1-3 visitors. The paid plan doubles that (2-6 visitors a day). And if you are only getting 2-6 visitors a day it would be hard to justify paying for any premium product for your website. Your website clearly has no traction at that point, you're not a target for competitors or hackers, and you're not making money from the site to justify adding overhead of this product to it. Not trying to be negative here, but again I struggle to see how this product adds value over using a CDN or a Premium DNS like Amazon's Route 53 (which btw is free if hosting on AWS, or is $0.50 - $1.00/mo for sites up to 1,000,000 page views per month).

@_jacurtis Hi J, Thanks for the feedback. You are not supposed to stare at the dashboard, we will have alerts in place that will let you know of suspicious activity and you can block directly from the email alert. In terms of competitors, or product copy-cats, or for the matter of fact, in the digital world, if someone wants to get your data, they will get it, it's just a matter of how much effort they want to put into it. ActivShield is not a stealth hacking or competition deterrent, but the first line of defense, that alerts you and allows you to deter those visitors. I appreciate the page views analysis, we will increase our plan/page view allowance using this approach. Thanks for taking the time.
