Hi PH, Today I would like to introduce you to @eugenekudashev’s new project. /^[a-z0-9_-] {3,16}$/ helps you dive into the wonderful and mysterious world of the regular expressions. The first episode, /^([a-zA-Z0-9._%-]+@[a-zA-Z0-9.-]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,6})*$/, is about checking that a given string is a valid email: https://open.spotify.com/episode...

@eugenekudashev @yesnoornext interesting idea!
Greg Hodson
Hahahaha, absolutely unrecommendable via word of mouth
Eugene Kudashev
@gregjwww Hahaha, that is very true, I haven't thought of that!
Eugene Kudashev
What should I cover in the next episode?
Marc-Antoine
I really like this new podcast, I learned a lot with the first episode, but i'm still confused at the part about {2,6} because it blocks my short email professional@business.enterprises Also bit disappointed that the title of the episode is actually a spoiler
Eugene Kudashev
@business @marcantoinefon I think it largely depends on the implementation. Different programming languages and operating systems have different implementations of regular expressions, so what works in JavaScript might not work in Perl and vice versa. It could also be that your email is simply too professional. The regular expression kinda detects that you're a 10x engineer, or something. But you're absolutely right. I might need to address your corner case in the next episodes. Thanks for pointing this out!

Is this available on Apple Podcasts? I haven't been able to find it
Eugene Kudashev
@austin_suhr Not yet, unfortunately -- I'm still waiting for it to get approved! Apparently, it's a lengthy process But there's 6 other platforms where it is available, if that's any consolation! :) EDIT: Actually, it's there! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/po...

@austin_suhr @eugenekudashev I'll redownload Spotify for the time being haha

Great podcast, @eugenekudashev! How regular will it be?
Eugene Kudashev
@bbsody weekly, probably!

😅😂😅😂😅😂 Please continue this is so instructive. Love learning more about regular expression with /^([a-zA-Z0-9._%-]+@[a-zA-Z0-9.-]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,6})*$/
Eugene Kudashev
@thomas_de_weekendr Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed this! I plan to cover some regular expressions for a secure password in the next ones. Maybe this one, who knows! /(?=(.*[0-9]))((?=.*[A-Za-z0-9])(?=.*[A-Z])(?=.*[a-z]))^.{8,}$/
