Hey, I’m really excited to finally launch Zero to Marketing on Product Hunt. Building is becoming easier but marketing is becoming harder. In the last few years, the barriers to entry have become so low that even non-technical people can launch amazing products in almost no time. This is definitely a positive thing. But the flipside is that markets have gotten crowded and standing out is way more difficult than it used to be. It’s not enough to just have a great product. Most of the time, the difference between success and failure is distribution. As a marketing consultant, I’ve seen first hand how people that aren’t good at promoting their work have a much lower chance of success. Unfortunately, the majority of founders I speak with tell me they don’t consider themselves good at marketing. So I thought that maybe using my 10+ years experience on the field I could do something to help them improve. Here’s the idea: twice a month, I choose a new website and write a short case study on what I’d do to acquire new customers. This way people can see how to think about growth and apply learnings to their own product. I started doing it on Twitter and then turned it into a newsletter. The list has quickly grown to a few thousand subscribers. They’re really engaged and most importantly they tell me they find my emails really useful. All this positive feedback gave me the confidence to present it here to the community hoping it can help you get better at marketing too. I’ll be hanging out here all day to answer any questions you might have. Thanks, Andrea
