ZenDoOne is a minimal macOS menu bar app designed to reduce cognitive load. No complex hierarchies, no heatmaps, no gamification. Just input your task, focus on it, and get out. It’s about doing, not managing.

I’m Adrian, the maker behind ZenDoOne.
I’m actually not a Mac developer. By day, I’m an AI Infrastructure engineer working on Cloud Native tech and GPU Virtualization. I spend my time optimizing clusters, not building UIs.
But I’ve always been obsessed with productivity tools. Like many of you, I often feel overwhelmed by apps that demand too much attention, complex project hierarchies, guilt-inducing heatmaps, and endless gamification. I just wanted a place to type "One Thing", focus on it, and then get out.
Inspired by Sindre Sorhus’s One Thing, I wanted to build my own version with specific "rituals" and a satisfying completion flow.
Here’s the plot twist: I had zero experience with Swift or SwiftUI.
But we live in an amazing time. I decided to see if I could build a native macOS app entirely through dialogue with LLMs. It turns out, I could.
I’ve been "dogfooding" ZenDoOne throughout this journey. Every feature iteration, and even the interactive Web OS demo site I built to showcase it, was completed while staying focused using the app itself. That confetti burst at the end? It’s a small dopamine hit, but it genuinely keeps me going.
ZenDoOne is:
* Minimal: Less noise, more focus. Input -> Focus -> Done.
* Open Source & Offline: 100% transparent, zero data collection.
* Free: Because focus shouldn't be paywalled.
I hope this little tool helps you find your flow as much as it helped me build itself.
I’d love to hear your feedback! What’s the "One Thing" you want to get done today?
Cheers,
Adrian
