The new Basecamp sure looks interesting. The toolbox concept reminds me of an old 37 Signals product called Backpack. I think combining different tools and piping in/out into various services is brilliant. I have seen in a lot of companies how people try to stitch up tools together. The "playful" design looks a bit weird to me, but I totally understand why they went to this way. p.s. I think "Q&A" is one of those features, you don't know you need until you see it :)

@rstankov Yeah, we use Q&A a ton for Highrise. It really is going to be one of those things, like you said, people will realize they wish they had a long time ago. It makes things like status reporting easy and less of a chore.

Not sure about all these complexities, they've introduced. The main reason we (context: web development studio) use Basecamp is because it has simple functionalities, that combined can drive tasks of different scale. And since we use it for organising projects directly with our clients, I'm concerned, that all these new options, it would require additional explanations to them. Of course it's hard to make estimations based on work-in-progress videos, but still.

@vestimir True, what I like here that you can turn on/off stuff and pretty much build your own tool. I guess you would be able to have templates and just setup it with 1~2 click to client project.

@alexcartaz @vestimir Bah, it's hard to keep all these feeds in check :) I gotta look into Zapier or IFTTT for this. Because every time we do this, I need to download the mp4 from youtube get it to soundcloud, fix the titles that get changed during the upload, etc. It's coming :)

@vestimir I'm not sure it will feel complex. Jason and I actually did a great show on complexity the other day.
Basecamp still feels as easy as ever. Granted, there is some more power and more tools. But they've been carefully added, and with the ability to turn off what you don't need - I think you're going to like this. It really doesn't feel like a confusing mess of settings.

@natekontny for sure it would be great update, and our internal processes will benefit from it. I'm concerned about external work with our clients, and the change it will bring to it. But @rstankov reminded me of project templates, which I totally forgot. So I guess we'll just customize it once for our needs. Anyway great show, keep up the good work!
