Hey Product Hunt!
Whiteboard is an open-source desktop app where humans and agents architect software together on a shared canvas. It’s the easiest way to ship fast with coding agents while still understanding your codebase.
We made Whiteboard because coding with agents was exhausting: we were constantly switching between the terminal, our IDEs, and HTML visualizations to give feedback on the walls of text we were squinting at all day.
Whiteboard plugs into the tools you already use - Claude Code, Codex, etc. - and gives your agent an SDK to draw on a persistent, in-app canvas. The app is designed to capture the feeling of a productive whiteboard session with another engineer.
When you click on any visualization – like a sequence diagram, an entity relationship diagram, or a quote from the agent’s trace – you jump directly to the underlying code. When navigating code, you get keybindings and LSP support from VSCode out of the box.
Folks at companies like Salesforce, Modal, and Nvidia are using Whiteboard today to iterate on prototypes with their coding agents. They’re also pulling intimidating PRs into the app to make sense of them.
Thanks for reading, and we hope you try Whiteboard at https://whiteboard.dev.fast/install. The source is here: https://github.com/devdotfast/whiteboard.
@sidkmenon can you pull in a PR from a while back and still see which agent step made each change
@leoheo yes this is possible. Either way this depends on access to the trace ! so folks generally use this to understand & shape their own agent’s work today, so the trace should be local to your machine - if it’s there you’re all good. If it’s a coworkers’ there’s a cloud trace storage feature you can use for this. The multiplayer features are early tho and we’re making them much better in the coming weeks in a big release
Interesting, this will help me keep tabs on my codebase as AI inevitably grows it beyond my understanding. I no longer have to trust LLM answers on the actual architecture of my codebase or new feature. Is this useful for auditing workflows in codified agents?
@max_reynolds1 thanks for the question! I’m not sure I understand what codified agents are ? Do you mean for like an agent running in a workflow?
I think honestly it could be - I’ve never tried it as a pane of glass in that way. You could setup a trigger whiteboard creation upon workflow completion which could help!
Clicking a sequence diagram and landing in the underlying code is exactly what's missing when reviewing agent PRs. Do the canvas drawings stay in sync when the code changes later, or are they snapshots of that session?
@thamibenjelloun for now they’re snapshots ! We actually just merged something to main which decouples the two - you can imagine that the agent can then live update the whiteboard for you as it works :)
Hi Sid ;)
I've lost the thread in a wall of terminal output more times than I would love to admit, and usually right after letting an agent run loose.
seeing the steps laid out where I can poke at any piece caught my interest, I love it !
@amine_aziz_alaoui lovely ! Feel free to send us any feedback, we’d love to make it better for you :)
