Hi Product Hunt 👋 We built Weftly at The Woven Record, a small newsroom, because we needed a way to turn long interviews and talks into something publishable without paying for another subscription. We use it on our own videos every week, and we're excited to share it with you! Since our last launch we've shipped the feature we promised in June: Edit from transcript. Cutting a talk usually means scrubbing a timeline to find where someone rambled. You already know which sentences you want. You can see them in the transcript. So now you edit the transcript and Weftly cuts the video to match. How it works: 1. Drop a video into chat.weftly.ai and ask Weftly to transcribe it. 2. Delete words or sentences, or move sentences around. 3. Click "Cut this video." You get the edited video back, plus an SRT and a word-level transcript re-timed to the new cut. A few choices we made on purpose: - You can't type new words. Weftly cuts real footage, so it only keeps or reorders what was actually said. If an edit can't be cut, you see which lines before you pay. - $1 per edit, no subscription, no account. You pay when you use it. - It works from your AI agent too. If you use Claude or another MCP client, your agent can edit the transcript as plain text and send it back with edit_from_transcript. Every Weftly job is free through October 31 with code WEFTLY-LAUNCH. It's video only for now, and audio support is on the list. If you want that, or something else, tell us here. Agent for the Agentless: Weftly now has a chat client

Weftly has always been MCP-first: transcribe, find clips, cut vertical shorts, publish platform. Each tool call is paid per job, no subscription, and no sign-up. That works great if you already have Claude or Cursor set up. If you don't, "install an MCP host first" is a rough answer to "can I get a clip out of this interview?"

So we brought the chat client back. Open chat.weftly.ai, drop in a file, say what you want. No setup, no account, no connector config. The tools underneath are the same ones your agent would call. The chat app is just one client, and the interface is yours to pick. Details about our purpose-built Discord client app are in the comments

Using Weftly to create branded clips for our news site: 5 clips in just over 5 minutes

We created Weftly to solve our own post production challenges in getting our grassroots news site videos published. I just prepared clips to publish to YouTube and I want to share how fast and easy it was.

I just took a long form video and created 5 clips, each with:

a branded chyron with the guest names
a branded like & subscribe
a branded end card
a branded thumbnail
a SRT transcript for subtitles

New: Edit videos from your iPhone in Discord using Weftly's MCP server

Steve on our team hooked OpenClaw up to Discord and drove Weftly's MCP server from a team channel on his iPhone. Upload a video in your Discord server, ask the bot to transcribe or find clips, and it handles everything, including payment via MPP, without leaving Discord.

The MCP architecture means this works from anywhere. Discord today, Claude Code yesterday, Gemini or LiteLLM tomorrow. Same Weftly tools, different front door. We believe this is how software is going to work, with a personal UI, digital payments for agents, and APIs fronted by MCP servers.
