Waflow started from a simple frustration: every business I worked with relied heavily on WhatsApp, but setting up smart, AI-powered automation was either too technical, too expensive, or way too rigid. Most tools felt like clunky flow builders instead of real conversational assistants. I wanted something that was: Easy enough for a solo founder or small business to set up in minutes Smart enough to actually understand context and answer real questions Flexible enough to plug into existing workflows and knowledge That’s what inspired me to build Waflow. The core problem Waflow solves is the gap between “people expect instant replies on WhatsApp” and “most teams don’t have the time or support staff to respond 24/7.” Instead of missing leads, delaying support, or manually copy-pasting the same answers over and over, Waflow lets you drop in an AI agent that knows your business and can handle most conversations automatically. From a builder’s side, the process evolved a lot: I started by experimenting with WhatsApp automation using the Baileys library to handle connections and messages reliably. For the backend, I chose Supabase to move fast with authentication, database, and real-time features without heavy DevOps overhead. For the AI layer, I integrated OpenRouter so I could test different models and balance cost, speed, and quality as the product evolved. On the frontend, I used React to build a clean, simple interface where non-technical users can create agents, upload knowledge, and connect WhatsApp with just a QR scan. Early versions were very basic—just “connect WhatsApp and reply with AI.” Over time, talking to freelancers, small agencies, and local businesses pushed me to add knowledge bases, lead capture, and analytics so Waflow became more of a full WhatsApp AI assistant platform than just a chatbot. This launch is just the start. I’d love feedback from the Product Hunt community on what workflows you’d like to automate on WhatsApp and which integrations or features would make Waflow even more useful for you.
