Hey everyone! 👋 I’m Theodora, co-founder of Velout. This project started long before we ever wrote a line of code... it started during my own decade of solo traveling. I loved the freedom, but I also felt the two emotions many travelers don’t talk about: loneliness and the lack of safety. I kept meeting incredible people by chance, and I always wondered… why do we leave meaningful human connection up to luck? Two basic human needs — safety & belonging — follow us wherever we go. Yet no travel app truly addresses them. So we began researching human connection, trust, and compatibility with a research center in Germany and slowly, Velout was born. We wanted to solve one clear problem: How can technology help strangers become travel friends — in a safe, intentional, and meaningful way? Along the journey, our approach evolved. What started as “find a buddy” became a much deeper mission: • match based on travel personalities • focus on emotional well-being • integrate sustainable choices • measure real impact • and treat people as humans, not profiles. Today we’re launching Velout on Product Hunt but not as something “finished,” rather as a platform we’ll build together with the community. Your feedback means everything.
