Hey Product Hunt 👋
We built TRACE because we wanted a better way to compare web scraping APIs on real pages.
Every Friday, we send a fresh sample to each API and publish how often it gets through, how fast it responds, the quality of the content, what it costs, and why it fails.
The methodology and page-level data are public so you can dig into the results yourself. Our own API is included too.
Give it a try and let us know what else you’d want us to measure.
we do browser automation so I see failures every week. When a page fails in your benchmark, how do you know it's a real block and not the site that changed its HTML? Do you retry from another IP before counting it as a fail?
fresh sample every week is the right call, vendor benchmarks always seem to pick pages they're good at. would love to see job boards as a category, those are some of the nastiest pages to scrape
congrats on the launch ely. to your question, i would measure how often the same page comes back with different content between runs -> a fast response is hard to use if the agent gets a different version every time
