Not needing everyone else on a call to install something is a big plus. Much easier to try this with a client when there’s no setup to explain on their side. Congrats!
@marianna_tymchuk Thank you so much, Marianna! That's exactly the idea: your client just opens a link in their browser, no account and no app, and hears you in their own language from the first minute. No setup to explain is half the battle in a cross-language call. Really appreciate the kind words 🙏
Face to Face sounds handy for travel. Passing a phone back and forth and typing every sentence gets old pretty quickly) Good luck with the launch!
@yuliia_savchuk Thank you, Yuliia! Exactly, that's why we built Face to Face: put the phone on the table, each person just talks, and it hears who is speaking and reads the translation aloud to the other. No typing, no passing it back and forth. Perfect for a taxi, a pharmacy or a market abroad 🙏
8 years in Amsterdam and my Dutch is still terrible, so yeah, I get the use case. How bad is the lag on a live call though? That's usually where these break.
@jean_bonnenfant_tinct Ha, 8 years and still struggling is exactly who we built it for! Honest answer: it's a few seconds, not instant. When someone is heard in English (or one of 12 other big languages), their audio streams into a realtime model, so you hear the translation while they are still talking, usually 2 to 4 seconds behind. Into Dutch it waits for the end of each phrase, so a little longer. We're switching Dutch and 18 other languages to a much faster voice right now, about a second quicker on every line. Would love to hear how it feels with your Dutch colleagues 🙏
The other people on a browser call not having to install anything is a useful detail. That removes a pretty awkward first step when you are already trying to communicate across languages.
@oleksii_sekundant Thank you, Oleksii, that's exactly why we built it that way! When you're already facing a language barrier, "first install this app" is where many calls end before they start. Guests just open the link in any browser and hear everyone in their own language. Really appreciate you taking the time to look 🙏
