SpareNames

Spare domains from your fellow makers

SpareNames is a marketplace where makers sell or give away domains bought for a project that has never been launched or has been discontinued. With SpareNames you give your unused domains the chance to be developed by another fellow maker who shares the same or similar vision while you save money for domain renewal fees, win-win. :-)

Hey Product Hunt community πŸ‘ πŸ‘ SpareNames is a marketplace where makers sell or give away domains bought for a project that has never been launchedΒ or has been discontinued. We were inspired by Transferslot and 1kprojects where makers buy and sell side projects and we thought it would be cool if there was a marketplace where we can find new owners for our unused domains and/or buy new domains for our current project ideas. πŸ˜ƒ The problem it solves is pretty simple. Each one of us has plenty of unused domains that are unlikely to be used in the future, but we are still paying domain renewal fees. With SpareNames you give these domains the chance to be developed by another fellow-maker who shares the same or similar vision while you save money for domain renewal fees, win-win.πŸ˜ƒ With mindset of "from makers to makers" we've decided to put a limit on the domain price to a maximum of $ 199. - enough to recover several fees. At the moment we only show a list of the domains and do not act as an intermediary between the buyer and the seller. We require seller to forward their domains to our landing page as a proof that they are currently the owner. Do you have any spare domains you would like to sell? πŸ˜ƒ See you in the comments! Maybe its better to request users to set an A record to your IP instead of requiring them to make a redirect. Not all nameserver providers have a redirect option and setting up an web site just to make a redirect might be too much work.

@samdecrock Hey Sam, thanks for your suggestion, makes sense. It is on our ToDo list πŸ˜‰.

due to limit is useless for me. Got unused domains that cost me a lot more

@andrii_pavlov thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear it doesn't work for you. We were considering to add a premium section in the future. Can you shoot us an email with your domains at info@sparenames.com, and we'll see if we can figure out something?
Branimir
We've just made them active πŸ˜‰πŸ€˜
