Somnolent

Hypnotic visual sleep aid. The VR hit, now on mobile.

Most sleep apps play nature sounds or tell stories. Somnolent uses science. We ported our top-rated VR sleep technology (72% efficacy) to mobile. Using hypnotic audio-visual entrainment and binaural beats, the app mimics your brain's sleep frequencies to heavy your eyelids. It features simple, slow, pulsing visuals, a soothing, slowing heartbeat, hypnotic narrations and binaural beats that down-regulate your nervous system.

Hi, I’m Damian, one of the creators behind Somnolent. We’ve spent years building psychological experiences for the Liminal Platform in Virtual Reality. One of our biggest findings was how effective audio-visual entrainment is for sleep. We saw a 72% success rate with Somnolent in VR, but sometimes you also want to just lie back in bed without a headset. So, we asked: Can we get the same result with just a phone screen? The answer is Somnolent. It’s not a meditation app-it’s more immersive. You watch the screen, listen to the binaural beats, and the app does the heavy lifting to down-regulate your nervous system. If you use it in bed, in complete darkness the phone disappears and you are left mesmerised by rhythmic, floating spheres, slowly lulling you to sleep.
