Tired of being overwhelmed by nonstop information from big social media companies, I wanted to address this growing attention deficit by creating a social platform that encourages people to slow down. Instead of instant updates, the idea is to have more thoughtful interactions. The name Bufferty comes from the word buffering. When you see buffering—a pause or lag—it means your internet connection is too slow to deliver data right away. I remember using my first computer, a Sinclair ZX81 with a 16k RAM pack. Loading a single game from a cassette tape could take hours. That time wasn’t wasted; it gave me space to think, reflect, and look forward to what was coming. Sometimes the game wouldn’t load at all, and I’d have to start over. In these calm moments of reflection, there was space to dream and imagine a different future. Bufferty has been concivied to promote just this. Space and time to reflect and think. To regain control over our thoughts and imagination.
