@maria_polesh Thanks Maria! The candidate experience is what we focused on the most when we were building ShortlistIQ. Candidates usually feel left-out if recruiters don't reach out to them, while recruiters don't have the time to assess each candidate personally, so they rely on keyword-based resume searches. This approach usually leaves out a lot of good candidates. With our approach, the candidates feel seen and have the equal opportunity to showcase their skills.

@nevena_sofranic Thanks, Nevena! We're applying the lean startup approach by launching without direct ATS integrations, developing them as users request. So far, users don't mind manually importing candidates into ShortlistIQ. With only Nikola and me on the dev team, this feels like the best approach...

How do you ensure that the AI remains unbiased and effective across various industry-specific hiring contexts? I guess on of the biggest challenge

@oliver_nexamind Excellent question Oliver! The first thing is that the AI isn't aware of all the other candidates, it only holds the current conversation in the context. Everything that could discriminate a candidate is being stripped out from the AI's context, including age, gender, etc.

@mashy Thanks Albert! The AI recruiter uses GPT-4o under the hood, so it has a deep understanding of a vast majority of skills to autonomously run an interview filled with strategic questions and form scenarios to assess candidate's actual skill levels.

Hiring is in deep need of an extreme overhaul. I'm a big fan of using AI for things like this. Big question, though (and maybe a tough one - sorry!): There have been a lot of stories of bias being built into AI tools. How have you avoided that here?

@trent_kennelly We share the same concerns. To minimize bias, we exclude any info that could lead to discrimination, like gender and age. We even trained the AI to avoid using first names (as gender clues) when scoring them. By focusing solely on candidates' responses to the strategic, scenario-based questioning, we've managed to reduce bias when compared to human evaluators. Hope that answers your question! :)
