Hi all, I just discovered Readingstash this morning on Reddit.
@kohjingyu is the maker, this is a simple way to discover new books (business & fantasy) based on the cover, the Amazon rating and a short description.

@clemkn@kohjingyu How does this work under the hood? I am left with the impression that those are predefined collections of books that simply display one at a a time, in random fashion. Calling this "Tinder for Books" is a little misleading, as one expects a prediction algorithm, based on one's preferences. Anyway, a nice hunt, I found a couple of books in the "business" section that have been on my list for a while, but I'd forgotten about them till now ;)
@preslavrachev@clemkn Thanks for the feedback! Currently it's mostly random, but I'm hoping to change it so that recommendations are based on "like" history. Glad that it helped you out!
@kohjingyu Let me know, if you need an advice when you start building the recommender engine. I built the app recommender engine for http://discoverpinapp.com (sadly, in a semi-dead state ATM) a couple of years ago, and I've gathered some tips along the way.
I really like the idea of it, but I can't get the flavor of a book from just a short description. Needs more. A bit more info, maybe a rating from Amazon?
@joshdance The ratings are actually from Amazon. I'm trying to figure out how to add more useful info without it becoming too cluttered. Thanks for your feedback!

Really nice to discover randomly books !

Liking the randomness of this. If the selects end up being algorithm-driven (as #allofthethings do), consider making that a user setting that can be toggled off. I can't get that on any other service without an anon login.
