@alexsoong91 Online eye exams have been around in some form for a few years, but they've historically been quite controversial for a number of reasons. Mainly, there's some misplaced fear that they'll replace annual in-person exams and cause some sort of population-wide decline in eye health. Not true. What's interesting is that there's no clinical evidence backing the need for annual in-person eye exams-- in fact, there American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) says that for healthy eyes with no risk factors for disease, people in their 20s should get ONE exam, people in their 30s should get TWO exams, and after 40 the frequency increases to every 2-4 years. Of course there are exceptions, but as the eye care provider shortage gets worse, we should definitely be more thoughtful about how we distribute eye care (and online eye exams are a huge part of this!)
