Solana as the backbone is a solid moveโfast, cheap, and perfect for those spontaneous โhey, thanks for this repo!โ moments. Can totally see this becoming the go-to for dev appreciation in the web3 space.
Big props to the @obiabo for making it open and accessible. ๐ฅ๐ธ๐
Potatoe introduces an innovative method for backing GitHub contributors via cryptocurrency, which could significantly enhance support for open-source projects. I'm curious about the process: how does Potatoe ensure that donations are securely and accurately allocated to the intended contributors? Additionally, are there measures in place to address potential tax implications for both donors and recipients?
@faizanjan_ย Thatโs a great question! Potatoe uses a peer-to-peer tipping system, meaning donations go directly from the supporter to the contributor without any middleman. Once a tip is sent, the sender gets a transaction hash as proof, ensuring transparency and traceability.
As for tax implications, Potatoe currently doesnโt handle that part directly, it's up to both donors and recipients to comply with their local tax laws. We're exploring better ways to provide guidance or tools in the future, but for now, users should consult a tax professional.
Regarding tasks, Potatoe doesnโt yet have task-based funding features, itโs primarily focused on tipping individuals based on their contributions.
Please you can let me know if there are any other concerns. Thanks ๐.

I would welcome this also on other platforms dedicated to content creators like Buymyacoffee, Passionfroot, Ko-Fi or just for invoicing.
This is not so frequent (especially in my country)
Personally, I would go for BTC only or ETH. :D

@busmark_w_nikaย Yes, i would also add other chains too, I would add BTC ( especially the lightning network) first, hopefully before ETH
