Thanks for hunting us, @mwseibel! Hi - I’m Alex. Together with Marcel and Thiago, I am one of the founders of Plug. Prior to Plug, the three of us worked in payments and saw companies changing their payments integrations way too often. What we noticed was as companies matured, so did their needs. At one point you may need super easy integrations, but at another lower fees, higher acceptance rates, more payment methods, or even fail-over options. Ultimately, the “best provider” changed on a transaction to transaction basis. Once companies got big enough they would invest in a payments infrastructure to work with multiple providers, which was technically complex and ultimately expensive too as you need a team to develop and support this. That's why we created Plug...a single API that lets any company easily work with multiple providers. With less effort than it takes to integrate one provider, you’ll have access to a multitude. And not just payments processing, but other services related to payments as well like fraud protection, wallets, banks, etc. As your needs evolve, change providers without writing a line of code. While we streamline the payments process, increasing acceptance rates (more sales!) and reducing costs, our customers love us because they can focus on growing their businesses and not re-integrating payments providers. Our initial clients integrated in just a couple of days and on average saw a 30% decrease in cost \o/ We started in Brazil because we thought the problem was biggest here, but will begin supporting other currencies and markets in LatAm and North America late July.
