Playful

Free, Universal VLC for Web. Ad-free YouTube + Local + Lofi

Playful is a free, privacy-first universal player that replaces the fragmented mess of VLC, YouTube Premium, and Spotify with one clean, browser-based tool. It handles local video files with a modern powerful interface and controls, streams YouTube without ads or distractions (unlocking advanced controls you won't even find on Premium), and plays 15+ lo-fi radio and 20+ ambient sounds for deep work. The best part? It works everywhere. No install. No login. No file uploads.

👋 Hey Product Hunters, thanks for checking my launch ❤️

Myself Rajat, I built this because I was tired of:
• installing heavy players just to watch one file
• opening YouTube for one tutorial and getting distracted
• worrying about opening sketchy video files
• stacking extensions just to make YouTube usable

Playful is a 3-in-1 media player that runs entirely in your browser.
Local files, clean YouTube, and lo-fi — no installs, no accounts, no uploads.

I’d love feedback 🙏
Which part would you actually use most: local files, YouTube, or lo-fi?

For me the YouTube with no ads is a killer feature, as I spend most of my time in YouTube seeing tutorials and exploring. It saves a huge chunk of time for me. The playlist feature is like cherry on top.

@aadi_mohane That’s exactly the use case I built it for 🙌
I wanted YouTube to feel like a tool again, not a distraction machine.

also curious when you’re watching tutorials, what do you use most: color controls, zoom, screenshots, or playlists?
