The Boring Notch is fantastic—honestly one of the inspirations for making Perch. What I wanted to do was take that productivity-in-the-notch concept and push it further with things like the local AI chat and quick access to timers, notes and snippets.
Would love to hear what you think after trying it out, and if there are any features you'd like to see added!

Totally hear you on the LLM—it's constrained by what Apple Intelligence can do locally right now, but that's also what keeps it completely private and running on-device. As Apple continues to improve their models with future OS updates, Perch will naturally benefit from those improvements too.
That said, I'm always looking for ways to make it more useful within those constraints. If you have specific use cases or features you'd like to see in the AI Chat, I'd love to hear them!

Unlimited and private beats cloud-based every time. How responsive is the LLM chat when running locally? Does it noticeably impact battery life? Congrats on the launch! 🚀

The LLM is pretty responsive—not as capable as cloud APIs, but fast enough for daily use. Honestly impressed with the performance. Battery impact has been minimal for me, but depends on usage. Apple's optimization really helps.
One thing I've noticed is it's pretty limited with non-English languages right now—that's more on Apple Intelligence's side, hoping they improve that over time.
