The automated billing platform for any pricing model: tiered plan, metrics with limits, usage-based, or recurring subscriptions. Set up your SaaS billing stack with zero effort and scale with developer-friendly billing API, all with no transaction fee forever.
Hello Wooooorld!
We are Matt and Daniel, cofounders of Paigo.
Thanks to Michael Seibel @mwseibel for hunting us in the Product Hunt community. We are so thrilled to share more about Paigo with you all!
Daniel and I have been working together and on SaaS billing for so long that we lost track of the years. In my old days, leading the platform engineering team at ClickUp and managing Database-as-a-Service at MarkLogic, where Daniel also lead the architecture and development, we had to consistently tackle billing challenges for up to $200M ARR. Not to mention Daniel even developed E-commerce billing based on transaction volume for a public company. We did our due diligence at times by testing out all the big or small billing platforms in the world. Unfortunately none of them solved the two core challenges many people have observed.
👀 Observation 1: Every company must develop internal billing features and business logic on top of 3rd party billing systems, because existing business systems are generic, not flexible, and unable to fit companys’ pricing perfectly.
👀 Observation 2: Every company must develop internal billing automations due to integrating with different toolings used by departments and evolving processes over time. Another related consequence is the necessity of hiring a team to solve lack of automation, including RevOps, Deal Desk or Biz Ops to manually own billing.
Therefore, we built Paigo to be a billing system for SaaS business with two key design principles: automation and flexibility.
🚂 Customizable to any pricing model
Customize Paigo for any pricing model, early or late stage, and various go-to-market motion.
🏖️ Automate every single thing in billing
Sit back and see Paigo makes billing operations happen continuously on a clock without human intervention.
📊 Usage data metering at scale
Meter product usage in real-time natively from every layer of SaaS stack, for usage-based billing.
🖥️ No-code SaaS billing stack
Set up billing onboarding, invoice portal, payment management, usage tracking and subscription management in 3 min without writing a single line of code.
📈 Billing, pricing and usage analytics
Query and visualize data with SQL. Use Paigo lambda to perform advanced analytics with any script you upload.
Last but not the least, Paigo is redefining the value of billing systems with groundbreaking pricing ourselves. We are the first and only billing platform with:
💗 Free Forever Plan
💗 No transaction fee or revenue sharing
💗 Unlimited access to all features and unlimited users
We’d love to have your support! Please sign up for Paigo to try it out (because why not, it’s free forever😆) at this link https://paigo.tech/, and share your thoughts or questions of the product. We and the community would appreciate your candid feedback!
@goforbg
Hey we have some code examples inside our docs and actually in the application itself.

However we are currently working on a full SDK for the API. So it should be out soon.

The fraud detection mentioned by another commenter caught my eye. It feels like every day I see a tweet of a new founder getting 'credit card tested' and ends up paying hundreds in fees.
Would be neat if this could be an alternative/solution for SaaS folks? Congrats on your launch!
@esus Hey Esus, thanks for the insight! Honestly this scenario is quite new to me - credit card tested and paying hundreds in fees. I'd be curious to dig deeper into this!
@esus Thanks for bringing this up. In our payment integrations we do enable users to have stripe be their end payment provider, and while not perfect, there is an option inside of stripe for their fraud detection and radar rules to be setup which Paigo would run through before actually charging the end customer. Thereby giving an option for founders to have something in place to avoid the fees.
@esus
🤯🤯🤯 Thanks for sharing those links. Payments are really the wild west on the internet still. I remember reading this blog post a few weeks back, and if you haven't read it I would reccomend giving it a skim https://piotrmierzejewski.com/p/...
The author found some pretty interesting and indepth stuff regarding payment fraud, and credit card number generation.

Would this work for productized services too? I currently have my UI/UX design clients setup through Stripe for payment processing and customer dashboards. How would this improve on that?
@archiemax Yeah we work out of the box with stripe, you can bring your existing stripe clients to paigo in a really easy way just in the UI. https://docs.paigo.tech/invoicin... I would look at Paigo in your case as a toolkit that makes stripe infinitely more flexible for you. Out of the box we give you invoicing, prepaid credits, usage data aggregation and ingestion for your bills. Its a whole billing framework you can use ontop of stripe to enchance the application without any increase in cost.
For example, you may want to track hours working on a product as usage, and then have a product metric inside of Paigo, which can be turned into an invoice automatically and then charge the right customer inside of stripe. Instead of needing to keep track of information manually and just figure it out in stripe everyday.
The idea here is really good and I know there is a lot of demand for a tool like yours. Your documentation looks conclusive and easy to understand. Are you using any third party service providers to enable your service? Upvoted
@philippgeppert if youre asking about what 3rd party systems we integrate with, we have a lot of integration solutions out of the box. For any downstream systems, (quick books, excel, slack) you can receive a web hook notification when am event occurs and take action on it. additionally we are agnostic to any payment provider you want to choose. additionally we also can import and manage customers from existing platforms like stripe with basically zero effort.
If you're asking how we built it and if we use 3rd party systems there. The main application is in aws running in a kubernetes cluster. we've built systems like this multiple times in-house before so it was fairly straightforward for us to spin something similar up.
@naveed_rehman Paigo is a toolkit that makes it easy to automate billing processes and gives you the flexiblity to change prices, and work through billing challenges.
Stripe is an end payment solution, a major difficulty with stripe is dealing with subscriptions + usage in an effective manner. With Paigo you can simply upload usage, and then experiment with the price / options where as with stripe this is much more difficult.
Additionally, in existing systems there is usually a high initial fee to get started, and then they take a % of revenue. Whereas with Paigo, its really just dependent on how much you use the platform overall.
For example you could only have 5 customers but bill each 100k, and its very likely you could just use Paigo for free.

Your automated billing platform is super slick! Love how it caters to all pricing models with zero transaction fees. The developer-friendly API and ease of scaling are total wins. It's a huge help for SaaS billing. Keep rocking those awesome features! Congratulations on the amazing product @thisismattsun!
On another note, would you guys be open for a quick 10 min interview? We're conceptualising the upcoming product designed to automate & streamline startups' journeys from idea to PMF and late stage rounds - would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I love the feature set! Got super excited at first, but couldn’t figure out if you guys actually process the payments or if I would have to connect Paigo to my stripes account.
If you do, where can I find the card fees?
Also, please don’t be the AWS of payments! You guys have the most complex pricing I’ve ever seen for a BaaS. As I said, your feature set is great! Would it really make a difference if you guys had a flat fee per transaction volume?
Also, I felt the emphasis on FREE here only led to disappointment when I saw it’s actually a free tier with only 100 tokens. That’s probably 20 to 25 sales at most, right? (Assuming customer, invoice, charge, and automation will each cost 1 token per sale)
I was hoping you were free due to a deal with the CC issuers or something like that.
$50/months isn’t expansive at all based on all you delivery (even if I still have to pay Stripe’s fees! But now it’s got a bitter taste :(
I’ll probably become a customer anyways. I implemented Rocket Money’s (previously Truebill) subscription system, I know how much work that is. Even $200/month is only several developer hours!
But hey, I’m only saying all this because I really liked your product and I wanna see you guys succeed!
