What do you think? …

Andrzej Pacholik
Hey guys! 👋 Ever tried setting up an onboarding process for a SaaS product? It's not just a few screens after sign-up; there's a whole lot more to it! Last year, I reviewed user onboarding experiences from 220+ top SaaS products. And the result? A collection of 100+ ideas and tactics that you can use in your own product. All backed up with numerous examples. In Onboarding.Study, you'll find loads of inspiration and thorough analysis, all sorted into categories like: - signup pages, - signup flows, - welcome messages, - in-app landing pages, - product tours, - checklists, - feature setup pages, and - resource centers. I also took a deep dive into the most popular user onboarding software out there. The result of the comparison will surprise you. I haven't shared the project widely yet, but after some good feedback, I don't see any reason to keep it to myself. So I'm happy to share my learnings today! A heads-up: - I'm more of a growth marketer than a UX guy, so my take is from a CRO perspective. - The research is from early last year, so a few examples might be a bit dated. But, most of these ideas are pretty timeless. Can't wait to hear what you think!

It's a great idea, but the user experience is a bit confusing: tons of cookies, CTA unclear, and popups down the way. Did you want to do a counterexample?
Andrzej Pacholik
@brunowinck Thanks for the comment Bruno and sorry to hear you didn't like the experience. The popup was a "legacy" thing which I forgot about - I disabled it now, thanks for reminding me :) Not sure what you mean by the cookies and unclear CTA though, could you clarify?
Bruno Winck
@andrzej_pacholik When you reach the page, you have a large blue button "View your Learning Path". It's a bit confusing because a button implies an action, but then I reach a list of lessons in white. None of them indicate a starting point or being clickable. Also, what you display is a list, a curriculum, not a learning path (which would be awkward because you don't know what I know already). So I looked around for a learning path (a start, a finish, steps) Then, after scanning the page again and again, I realized there was an arrow far on the right of each lesson indicating a combo; in fact, it's a pane. I would suggest opening the first one by default. and also limit the use of primary buttons to irreversible actions. As is I thought, OK, I'll be obliged to enter my name and credit card; where is the catch? As you remember, many sites today have multiple-step dialogs. On the first, you enter your email without knowing what comes next. So I become wary of clicking buttons without knowing what is behind it. A lot of work I recognize, but make it more welcoming. It's something I can recommend in other places.

@brunowinck Thanks a lot for taking the time to write it :) And that's very fair! I'll definitely take it into consideration.

Hi Andrez! Thank you so much for providing great resources for SaaS onboarding. I have bookmarked your website, as I am building out my SaaS product at the moment, and the sign-up flow is very close on my roadmap!
Andrzej Pacholik
@sofia_kyriazidi Awesome to hear that! :)

I also felt confused about what I was supposed to do with your app. I can tell a lot of thought went in here but also felt the CTA was unclear with "Automate User Research." Where are the "meat and potatoes" of your creation here? The site navigation also seemed like it didn't quite fit in. All the same I did find some great content on your site and hope you have a great launch today.
Andrzej Pacholik
@carterparks Thanks for the feedback! Highly appreciated. Thats a good call to remove the CTA linking to my main product from the nav. I’ll find a better place for it, thank you!
