Hi everyone! Notational is real-time notes app based on Notational Velocity (which I first heard about when @rrhoover interviewed @naval on the OG Product Hunt Podcast). I needed a way to capture notes quickly so I made this thing. Pro tip: Try the button that looks like an eye for writing in dark places ;)

@rrhoover Thanks! Those were podcast gold. (Here's my comment on Notational Velocity from a couple years ago.)

@tomfme this feels like it needs a native app... Part of the brilliance of the original was using a shortcut key to invoke the writing tool so you really could get in and out with barely thinking about it. Having to go to a URL in the browser feels too slow/full of friction. Plans for an API or native support?

@chrismessina completely agree it could be faster (that shortcut is so key). An API is part of the roadmap. No native app planned right now -- I don't have time to focus on it and don't want to slap something together in Electron. This needs to be a true native app for the experience to be good.

@tomfme good to hear — I understand not wanting to just do an Electron app. Still, how do you get over the loss of a keyboard shortcut to activate this?
