Hi everyone!
I m currently preparing for the official global launch of Nexmy on Product Hunt, and I wanted to share a bit of the backstory behind it.
To be completely transparent, I don't come from a traditional software engineering background. I am a solopreneur who built this entire Android application by closely collaborating with AI tools like GitHub Copilot.
I built Nexmy because I was frustrated with modern finance apps. They all want my email, my cloud registration, and access to my bank account. I wanted the exact opposite: a sanctuary for my data. Nexmy is 100% offline-first. No accounts, no internet required, full local encryption. It tracks budgets, compound interest, mortgage amortization, and even BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) plans.
Finally gave the local AI assistant a spin and it handled my interest simulations without needing an internet connection. Really appreciate the no-account setup and the PDF export is clean.
@egemencioljzcj Hi Egemen! Thank you so much for giving Smarty a spin! 🚀
Having interest simulations run 100% locally without any internet connection was a big priority for us, so hearing that it worked smoothly for you means a lot. Zero account hassles, total privacy, and clean PDF exports are the exact core pillars we built Nexmy around!
Out of curiosity, are you using the interest simulator mostly for long-term savings projections or checking mortgage/loan amortizations? Appreciate your support! 🙏
Since everything runs offline, adding an optional end-to-end encrypted sync between two devices would let couples or roommates share budgets without ever touching a cloud server.
@glhaneb63 Hi Gülhan! Wow, what an incredible feature idea! 💡
An optional end-to-end encrypted local sync (e.g., via local Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or direct QR exchange) for couples or roommates is brilliant. It solves the shared budgeting problem while keeping our core promise completely intact: zero central cloud servers and 100% data privacy.
I am adding this straight to our development roadmap! How would you ideally picture that sync workflow—local Wi-Fi network or quick QR code transfers between devices? Thanks so much for sharing this! 🙏
Ran it on my laptop and everything stayed local, which is exactly what I needed after getting burned by a cloud app last year. Smarty handled my split-spend questions faster than I expected for something running offline.
@betltk8g Hi Betül! Thank you so much for the feedback and support! 🚀
Hearing that Nexmy gave you peace of mind after a bad experience with cloud apps is the ultimate validation for us. That exact loss of trust with traditional cloud finance platforms is why we insisted on a strict 100% offline, local-first architecture from day one.
Really thrilled to hear Smarty delivered on speed for your split-spend questions! Optimizing local processing without sacrificing performance was a major focus for us, because privacy shouldn't mean a slow user experience.
Out of curiosity, are you using the split-spend tracking mostly for BNPL installment services (like Klarna/PayPal) or shared daily expenses?
Thanks again for taking the time to share this! 🙏
Day 1 Wrap-up! 🚀
A huge thank you to the entire Product Hunt community for the feedback, upvotes, and amazing feature suggestions today (from local budget sync ideas to debt payoff tools)!
As an independent creator, seeing people resonate with a 100% offline, privacy-first approach means the world to me. I'm taking all your notes straight to the development roadmap.
Nexmy will keep evolving to give everyone total control over their personal finances—with zero cloud compromises. Thanks again for being part of Day 1! 🙏
The local AI piece sold me. Love that I can run a BNPL simulator and chat with Smarty without any of my spending data ever leaving my laptop. The PDF export is a nice touch too.
@evval527527 Hi Şevval! Thank you so much for the awesome support and feedback! 🚀
Keeping everything 100% local—especially when chatting with Smarty and running BNPL simulations—was our top priority from day one. Knowing that your sensitive spending data stays strictly encrypted on your phone, with zero cloud footprint, is what financial privacy should be all about.
Really glad you find the PDF exports useful too! Out of curiosity, are you using the PDF reports mostly for your personal monthly budgeting or to archive expenses?
Thanks again for being here! 🙏
