used this to study for a certification exam, and the markdown-first approach is what kept me actually writing cards instead of avoiding it. most flashcard apps make card creation feel like a separate chore from note-taking, here it's the same document, you just mark which lines become cards. the spaced repetition scheduling feels well tuned too, cards I flagged as easy stopped showing up for a while without me having to fuss with intervals manually.
What needs improvement
syncing across the desktop app and phone lagged by a minute or two a couple of times, enough that I double checked whether a card I'd just reviewed on my phone had actually been recorded before trusting the desktop count. not a dealbreaker but worth tightening given how much the spaced repetition math depends on accurate review timestamps.
Anki has the bigger deck ecosystem and is the standard for a reason, but the card editor feels bolted onto a review app. Mochi flips that, notes come first and cards are just the parts you tag, which matched how I actually study better than maintaining a separate deck.
