My wife and I had our first child during covid and we quickly realized we didn't have any friends with kids and didn't know how to make them. Your life changes completely when you have kids and it's important to have other people in your life that are in the same situations - having that support is vital to dealing with the things that come up as a parent. It's one of the most isolating times because you're so concerned with your kids and we want to help people deal with that by helping them build a community around them.

@enderm thanks! Our grand vision is to bring people back together after the difficulties of the last couple of years. I’m focused on parents because I am one and this is my own problem I’m trying to solve.

?makers What does the matching algorithm rely on? How does it find the right match for me?

@alon_keren MVP is based mainly on location although to clarify a bit, the matching occurs through user interaction. We show you profiles of other families near you and you make the decision if you like them or not. If they also like you, it’s a match. As we get more users and more data, we’ll improve the algorithm with things like: common interests, how active they are, how invested they are (not just automatically liking everyone), etc

@rachel_levitz thanks yeah this is a problem my wife and I faced when we had our first child during Covid so we decided to build it! Now we’re working on raising the awareness and letting parents know there’s some help out there for them to solve this. Plus I’m trying to make some new friends!😆

This could be promising. I want to know more about how and why you connect parents, but obviously I care about the overall mission. I tried to contact Meerkat through the website, but on my iPad the contact page has no actual contact information.
