Hi Product Hunt 👋
I am a high school student from Hong Kong, and growing up in a traditional Asian family I have experienced all sorts of tiger parenting by my parents. It is surprisingly effective in how they can help control my screen time. Knowing lots of my friends with parents that are more 'chill', they personally want to be controlled as well on their screen time. Therefore, I built this app with a sassy mascot that mimics the tiger parents they want to help control their screen time.
I believe it has a unique approach to managing screen time. It uses a concept that’s similar to Duolingo’s mascot, our tiger mom mascot “Lok” provides similar encouragement in reducing screen time. It double downs on the stereotype of Asian tiger parenting, where people aren’t allowed their phones until they finished their tasks. Using such ways to gamify screen time is effective to all of the beta testers of this app, and I am sure that it will benefit the world as well!
Continued: I worked really hard to build this product and I am extremely proud to present this product to the world. Thank you very much for showing your support, it means the world to me!
Happy to see another "digital detox"/Productivity app! :) Welcome to the board. :)

@busmark_w_nika Thanks Nika! I launched LockedIn because I found most screen time apps dull and ineffective, especially for younger users. I wanted to build something fun and engaging that people would actually enjoy using to cut screen time. So here it is! 😄 I bet it’d pair great with a minimalist phone setup too. 😉
I love the idea of mixing productivity with a dash of sass and personality it’s such a breath of fresh air. Does Lok adjust its nudges based on how users behave over time or are the prompts pretty much set in stone?

@grayson_parker2 Thank you for this question! Yes it does, Lok's nudges changes according to user's behaviour. We currently have 100+ prompts for different scenarios (for example, the prompts are based on minutes focused, number of breaks taken etc). I am looking to incorporate AI to create more personalised nudges soon using Apple's latest frameworks :)

With Lok’s locking features, what’s to stop someone from just uninstalling the app to get around the restrictions?
Is there any kind of uninstall protection or accountability system in place?

@michael_davies5 thanks for the question! As of now, there are no such mechanisms to block. However in the future I will incorporate the feature to block users from deleting the app in a focus session using Apple's FamilyControls API.
