What do you think? …

Jari Höllerer
"Yeah really, with this new AI thing you could generate a full book if you wanted to..." - If you're like me, you've probably said something along those lines recently, trying to explain the incredible leaps in AI to less tech savvy people. But if it's such an obvious use case, why isn't it already a thing? That's exactly what we're going to change with today's launch! Our small team is super exited to finally share our project with you. We've poured our hearts into this, and we'd love to hear what you think. Our goal? To enable anyone with a smartphone to "write" their own Harry Potter level books. Okay, we know of course we're still quite far from that, but imagine someone creating a book that means as much to them as Harry Potter does to millions of fans. That's what we're shooting for, and I can tell you, the stories possible with our app right now are already pretty mind-blowing (at least to me). We're well aware this is a controversial project and we're gonna face some pushback. But here's the thing: most books today come from a small pool of highly educated, often well off authors. They're brilliant, no doubt. But are they the only ones with great stories to tell? How many potential "Lord of the Rings" are out there, locked away in people's minds, never seeing the light of day because those people don't have the means or time to write their own book? And historically, has making art more accessible ever led to worse art? Today we're taking the first step towards a shift from purely author-created books to user-generated ones. If our project speaks to you (or even if you just like the concept), we'd be incredibly grateful for your upvote. After months of bootstrapping, your support would mean the world to us. It'll help us focus on finding the right balance of user involvement - whether it's one-prompt wonders, heavy, assisted editing, or even book versioning - and most importantly, on making better and better stories. (And of course reaching human level narrating!) Let's open up the world of storytelling together! (P.S. To ensure a smooth launch, we've activated invite codes in the app. I'll post some initial ones in the comments below and then after signing up, each user can find 2 new codes in their profile to share here or with friends.)

Here are some invite codes: ['89c2', 'bca0', '46ce', '3551', '6bbf', 'b92b', 'a7f5', '44b2', 'a885', 'ea58']

If all of them are used already just comment here or send a dm on instagram @kulukoapp

@jaaari This sounds like a fascinating project with the potential to democratize storytelling! Here's a response that combines interest with some questions and offers help: - Can you elaborate on how the AI specifically assists with the writing process? Does it generate entire chapters or focus on specific aspects like plot, character development, or style? - With user-generated content, how do you ensure quality and maintain a platform for compelling stories? Is there a role for human editors or beta readers? As a developer, I'm interested in the technical aspects behind the AI writing assistant and the user experience. If those align with my skills (e.g., AI development, creative writing), I might be able to contribute to future development. Overall, this project has the potential to be a game-changer for aspiring authors. Learning more about the AI's role in the writing process and how you ensure story quality would be interesting. I'd love to see how this platform evolves and potentially contribute my skills if relevant!

Quite an innovative idea. Congrats on your launch!

Hi Jari, How customizable are the generated stories in terms of plot complexity and character development? Can users edit the text before the final audio is created? Congrats on the launch!
Jari Höllerer
@kyrylosilin Hi Kyrylo, thanks a lot! The stories are pretty customizable, since the "plot field" has no character limit, so in theory you could put very detailed instructions in there. But you could also put just a rough outline of your idea and we will generate a detailed plot etc in the background. And so far users can't edit the full text but were thinking about a more detailed edit mode later, feel free to try the app and tell us what you think about that :)

Hi @jaaari! Kuluko sounds absolutely amazing! The idea of turning a simple sentence into an entire custom audiobook is truly revolutionary. 😍 I love how you've made it possible for anyone to unleash their inner author, regardless of their writing background. How do you ensure the quality of the generated content, especially with different user inputs? Can't wait to give it a try! 😄📚
Jari Höllerer
@abhra_ch Hey thanks a lot! So generally, quality is pretty hard to define since people like really different stories as you can imagine :) But for a given users our approach to ensure quality currently is to only take the rough outline from the user and generate the full plotline etc ourselves.

@jaaari Makes sense 🤔

Hi everyone! I’m thrilled that we are finally able to share Kuluko with you all 😁 Our dream has been to give everyone the tools to bring their unique stories to life. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what kinds of stories you'd create with Kuluko —do you have a story idea that's been in your mind for years or a genre you think doesn’t get enough love? And if you have any questions about how the app works or our vision for the future, feel free to ask. We’re here to chat and excited to hear your feedback!

This is great! Just an idea for an improvement: to be able to pause a book and change the direction that it goes along the way. This way you can modify how things evolve while listening to it.
Jari Höllerer
@semanser Hey Andriy, that sound super interesting, thanks for the idea! Definitely gonna be resource intensive but could really make it even more interactive. Gonna add that to our list of possible features for sure 😍
