InstaSaber

AR app that turns a piece of paper into a virtual saber.

#3 Product of the DayJanuary 04, 2018

InstaSaber is an Augmented Reality app for iPhone that allows you to turn an ordinary piece of paper into a virtual saber. It uses Machine Learning and Computer Vision to make the app run on an iPhone. Available now on the App Store (phone must support ARKit). It's more a proof-of-concept at this point, but let us know what you think!

    Pros:

Looks like a lot of fun

    Cons:

    Doesn't work on older iPhones?

I tried to get it on iPhone 6, but it requires features on higher iPhones? What is that feature since it doesn't give much detail.

App looks great by the way, shame I can't test, maybe time to upgrade but 90% going to the darkside and back to Android, done with Apple.

David Alexander has never used this product.

    Pros:

    Works amazingly well!

    Cons:

    Not for android yet :(

I will definitely be adding this to my arsenal of phone toys :)

Kewl. Just wish I could set a timer so I can take my own pic or at least record hands-free.

@sammyschuckert well, useful might be a stretch 😂 but certainly something that could only really be done in AR

Phenomenal! This is a lot of fun but I'll be doing nothing else once AR glasses exist. I'll just be having lightsaber duels with my friends using paper. Please keep working on this. Perhaps include a trial period of the premium version with a watermark on it for increased exposure?

@theleovogel thanks for the feedback. I'll think about ways to open it up : )
