Hey Product Hunt 👋 Michał here, Founding Engineer at Humalike.
I’ll be around all day answering questions about what we built, how the NPCs work under the hood, and all the weird problems that come with making AI characters actually feel alive in a multiplayer world.
This launch is especially fun for me because years ago I used to run my own GTA Roleplay server, so I know firsthand how much work goes into creating a world that feels active, social and unpredictable - and how quickly that experience breaks when there simply aren’t enough players around.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited about what we’re building here. These aren’t NPCs that just wait for you to press E and pick a dialogue option. They remember people, build relationships, perceive what’s happening around them and can become actual participants in the server.
We’ve already learned a ridiculous amount from running them live at scale, so ask me anything - architecture, memory, latency, voice, perception, FiveM integration, things that broke in production, whatever.

Today we're shipping AI NPCs for FiveM (GTA roleplay).
The problem
Roleplay servers depend on humans roleplaying with each other. People look for the best experience possible, but a lot of the time there just aren't enough players online, or nobody around is up for an experience with you.
How we solve it
Every AI NPC has its own identity, personality, memory and humanlike behavior.
- They recognize players and build separate relationships with everyone they meet.
- They react to conversations, clothing, masks, weapons, gunfire and FiveM events around them.
- Custom characters (and groups of them) wired into your scripts and storylines.

@mcarmonas Congrats on the launch. 20,000 conversations in three weeks on a live server is a real test, not a demo.
question on memory, since that's the part that usually breaks: how do you decide what an NPC keeps long-term versus forgets? With thousands of players, does each NPC store its own memory per player, or is there a shared layer the whole server's NPCs learn from, like a witness telling the police what another NPC saw? And how do you stop old or wrong memories from overriding what just happened in front of them?
