I don't know how much experience you have with local models, but after rigorous testing, we came to the conclusion that the only way to give a top tier AI chat experience is to go with state of the art providers that do not run locally.
We store a temporary encrypted chat history on our server that is used for the duration of the chat to provide a model with the context required to answer your prompts. Then, once the timer is up or you manually delete a chat, all data gets deleted locally and from our server. Importantly, the phone has a loop running to ensure data gets deleted. If you ever don't have internet if you manually delete a chat, your phone will keep telling the server to delete all your data until it succeeds!
Importantly, since we use the paid APIs by the model providers, none of your data is ever trained on or stored with OpenAI and others. They are legally not allowed to store API customer data. Hope that answers your question!
This is a powerful and necessary take on AI privacy—making self-destruction the default is a bold design philosophy that instantly builds trust.
A key practical question for sensitive use cases: Does the 'auto-delete' function operate on a strict, verifiable timer (e.g., immediately after closing the app), or can a user manually trigger a one-time deletion of the entire chat history at any moment?
