By the way: How can you afford it to keep it free? I see that it is sponsored by iHeart, but still, it's impressive. What is the maximum length of a podcast to transcribe?
@phil_co The magic is happening directly on your device, using whisper model directly running on your browser in WebAssembly so that:
- You don't have to upload your media to any server
- We don't have to run expensive inference on the cloud
Most of the modern machines are good enough to do it.
As for the length of the podcast we did several test with episodes 2h long, there's no hard limit, so if you find it let us know! :)

I love it!!! do you also know how inclusive it is?
It allows, for example, people with hearing disabilities to read podcasts... and it's FREE :) Keep going!!!
I really commend your efforts and abilities in making a free transcription product. I'm curious about the security and privacy measures that are being taken, especially as users are uploading their own data. Thanks again. :)
@nalex2025 It's a free tool, provided by Spreaker
Anybody can use it, you don't need to be a Spreaker customer
It's built to be bulletproof from the privacy standpoint:
- No cookies
- No trackers (eg: Google Analytics) of any sort
- No user account registration
- No payments
- No personal information being stored anywhere (we don't even have server logs)
The only thing that we do to make it useful is uploading and hosting the transcription (if you decide to do so) so that you can add it to your RSS feed following the podcasting 2.0 standard.
