We built Equal because we were frustrated with the superficial nature of existing dating apps. After trying every available dating platform and being disappointed by the endless, meaningless swiping culture, we realized the industry hadn't seen real innovation in 15 years. Traditional dating apps have created a "grass is always greener" mentality that reduces people to profile pictures and promotes shallow connections over meaningful relationships. As founders who understand both technology and human psychology, we wanted to create something that prioritises personality, shared values, and genuine compatibility over appearance-based snap judgments.
