Hi Guys, I am Bernardo, the CEO and maker of DopeKicks! Made from Cannabis Hemp Fiber 🌲, 100% Vegan, 100% Ecological, 100% Waterproof, 3x less water to grow than cotton 💦, 1000x stronger than cotton 💪, recycled shoe soles ♻️ and cork footbeds. We first started DopeKicks with one vision in mind, to build the coolest shoes, with eco-friendly vegan materials, super resistant, waterproof and still accessible to everyone. We wanted to outperform all the other shoes in every category, and that is exactly what we have done. So why Cannabis? DopeKicks is not a shoe for consumption, if smoked it will not get people high. Hemp is actually the “sober cousin” of marijuana. It has a minimal amount of psychoactive components, and for that reason it is legal everywhere in the world and the team has already traveled across Europe, China and the US with it. Hemp actually has a very long history of being used as a fiber, in fact, it has been cultivated by George Washington himself to produce ropes sails and others. Cannabis is so strong Henry Ford once built a car with it. 100% Vegan Shoes Besides Cannabis the team chose other eco-friendly materials. Their footbeds are made of Portuguese cork, that grows on cork-oak trees every 9 years and it has super insulation properties. It keeps feet warm in winter and fresh during summer. And it is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial, which is great for those sweaty folks. The shoe out-soles is a whole new story, once again. The global footwear industry is worth 25 Million pair a year, and most of it ends up in landfills or worst, the oceans. So the DopeKicks team decided to stand up and make a sole from recycled old shoes. They shred and transform them in rubber composites, and then they melt it and pour it into molds, which means that people are literally walking over upcycled old shoes. 100% waterproof But they wanted to make something for the active person, the challenger, the go-places, something that could provide the best experience under any conditions, and that’s why DopeKicks is waterproof. The Hemp has been made to repel liquids from coming in. A special waterproof membrane was also added providing a total of 2 layers of protection and keeping your feet dry no matter what. Production will be shipped within 2 months once the project is funded. Help bring DopeKicks to the market. Contribute now http://bit.ly/weardopekicks ! 🌲🔥👟
This looks amazing @bernardo_duque_carreira1 - honestly looks too good to be true! I think I will back this on Kickstarter either way. But I'm curious about your plans for the future: if/when it's successful and you can make a profit, what are your goals? • Do you intend to offer different styles or colours? • Will you be putting them into high-street stores? • Will you be making even harder-wearing or ankle-supporting shoes, e.g. for long-distance hikes? How about cold-weather shoes with some kind of insulation? Anyway, still looks great and I am very interested in getting a pair of the first version! Good luck!
@basicallydan Hi there Thanks for your support to this project. Really appreciate it :-D - New color coming soon. Regarding model we are also planning but later in the pipeline. First we have to make sure we can sell this one. -Our retail plan is not yet final. We do want to have it selling in stores but we haven't formulated a plan for it. -This is a possibility. We have been requested a lot for street wear like vans, and some people want Hike stuff as well. The beauty of this campaign is that we launched one product and we are learning what people like and what they want to use it for. The whole idea of this model was to make an hybrid model that would fit all scenarios and keep options open. In that sense I think we did a good job. Still regarding your question, do you have a model in mind?
@bernardo_duque_carreira1 Thanks for your reply! The only model in mind I have is like a supportive technical hiking shoe type thing. The current model is more than adequate for what I'm looking for though, so - hooray! And congrats on smashing your Kickstarter target, too!
@basicallydan sure, thanks for your feedback. Got it, thanks for the suggestion. Thanks. But we have to continue selling way more to be sure we can build a meaningful company and win with a vegan product.
Any more colors coming soon?
