I was inspired by an amazing piece of software known as Little Snitch for macOS. When I first used it, I was amazed by how much I learned about what my computer was doing under the hood. I also found that being able to easily look through all my network activity just gave me a lot of peace of mind and confidence that nothing malicious was happening on my machine.
I have a large number of personal and professional projects in AWS so I wanted to be able to get the same sort of peace of mind for the cloud. Despite all the best practices and automated alerting, it's hard to convince myself that I have no blind spots.
Cloud Snitch makes exploring CloudTrail activity fun and easy, giving me the peace of mind I was looking for and bringing to my attention all sorts of things I didn't know such as what API calls are being made internally by AWS services.
