Hi ProductHunt! My name is Pavel and I'm a solo dev with +- 20 years of programming experience, mostly in web dev.
As a person who spends a lot of time in front of a computer screen, I decided to start doing pushups last year, but I've struggled with consistency and my own laziness.
On new years eve, I got into talks with my friend with a similar issue and based on ideas from our conversation, I've built Chad Challenge so we could motivate, push each other and hold each other accountable.
Chad Challenge is a simple app with one purpose: It tracks your pushups automatically using selfie camera and on-device computer vision (powered by AI model running locally so your video never leaves your phone) and displays your results on leaderboards where anybody can see them. On top of that, it allows you to challenge your friends directly and even add stakes to challenges to spice them up a bit.
It's hardly a groundbreaking idea, but after using the alpha version for a month with a few of my friends, I can already see the results. The streak system forces me to exercise consistenly every day and my daily average is already 50% higher than before as I don't want to be left behind.
Now I'd love to get this to more people as I believe it could help others as well, while adding on the competition factor.
The app is a PWA meant to be run on your phone (but works in a web browser as well). All the core functionality is completely free, with an option of a small one-time payment to support the development of the app and unlock some bonus features.
I have already a lot of other feature ideas (such as XP/levelling system, ability to directly compare all your stats with other users, more challenge types, push notification reminders etc) that I'll implement if more people will actually start using the app.
Hopefully, someone will find it interesting/useful as well - so let's see about that! :)
