Hey everyone! I'm Janko, founder of Booklly and a dad of three. This project started as a personal exploration — I wanted better bedtime stories for my own kids. Over a year ago, I began building a story generation engine just for our family. What started as a side project became an obsession: testing prompts, refining outputs, consulting child development research, and learning from the therapeutic storytelling work experts in the field. My kids became my toughest critics. They'd reject stories that felt "off" and demand new ones based on their wild ideas (a dragon who's afraid of butterflies, anyone?). We also started using stories to work through real challenges together — a new sibling, fears, big emotions. It works remarkably well. The engine brought so much joy to our family that I knew I had to share it. I know there are other AI story tools out there. What makes Booklly different is the focus on quality and safety: multi-voice narration where each character has their own voice, scene-synced illustrations, age-appropriate content filtering, and a pipeline that catches scary or inappropriate elements before they reach your child. This story engine is just the foundation for the things to come. I have exciting plans for what's next — but first, I wanted to get this into the hands of other families and hear your feedback. From our family to yours — may stories bring as much joy to your home as they have to ours.

@jt_pd Hello J.T

This is really touching. I don't have a family yet, but even I recognize that this is a really sweet thig to do. Opening it up to the public must have taken a while to decide :-)

I visited the site and liked what you're building, only thing is it seemed there wasn't much effort in terms of branding and positioning. I can help brand your product to effectively communicate as child friendly storytelling app, would you like to talk about this?

@dsgnrtope I appreciate the offer but not at this point yet.

Booklly is a personal project of mine, something I did for my kids. But I think the system behind it is so good I created this website so that it might bring joy to some other parents as well. The agentic flow behind it is quite complex as I am really aiming for best quality and child safe stories that the subscription barely covers the cost of running the AI. So I am not getting rich of this one and definitely don't have budget to hire people at this point.

I also created an "exclusive" launch day Product Hunt launch story: https://www.booklly.com/stories/science-discovery/the-great-interspecies-firewall/player

A story about AI, code and dogs & cats :D
