Looks like a great product! Thanks for such a great service! The only downside I see compared to services such as Patreon is that it uses Stripe Connect, which is really more for businesses than individuals. I would love to see plans in the future that don't require using Stripe Connect, and simply require your full name, address, birthday, SSN, and bank account details.

@datitisev Hey David, thanks for the comment 😉 Yes, we do use Stripe connect standard at the moment, but we think it's a great tools for both Individuals and Businesses! If I'm not mistaken I believe that Patreon also use Stripe Connect, but the "custom" version instead of "standard". We may transition over to that model eventually, but at the moment the fees associated with using Custom far outweigh the benefit. Also, we want to keep this donation tool free for content creators to use, forever!...no 5% cut, no platform fees etc). So we figure it's better to go with this model for now so that we can pass those savings onto our users :) Thanks for the feedback David - it's certainly something we want to aim for when we have the funding to do so :)

@luke_stephenson Thank you for your reply! I wasn't aware that custom Stripe Connect had fees, but to be completely honest I don't know much about it as a whole either. One advantage I see from using Custom (or even Express, though I see the pricing is the same) is that it looks less complex or intimidating, as the Stripe Connect page has most likely scared a few users at least. I hope BEABACKER has a great future, it's a great service, specially as it combines both one-time and recurring donations. I appreciate you replying here and taking an interest to improve the product as well! 🙂

@datitisev yeah the fees can really mount up quickly unfortunately - custom connect is a great model for websites that offer a subscription model or firms that have VC funding (becasue they are guaranteed the income to offset the costs of each connected account) but for free tools, it's not ideal :) Yes, I totally agree, I think that form does look a little intimidating, although when you actually dive into it, it's actually a very simple form and it only takes about 2 or 3 minutes (max) to complete! Thank you very much David, I really appreciate your support :)

This is actually a great innovation. I personally feel a hesitant requiring supporters to do monthly payment and feeling pressured to produce exclusive contents in exchange for that payment. This strategy is very considerate for both content creators and supporters by having the option to do a one off payment and let the supporters donate whenever they can. Ironically the less commitment of payment feels more genuine and rewarding for me knowing the supporters are in control when they will donate and not scheduled. Hoping in the future there would improvements and growth in this platform.

@lachlankirkwood Thanks! It's certainly something that we have thought about and would love to implement in the future! Right now we have a "buttons" page where creators can copy and paste some html code onto their site in order to create a button that links directly to their BEABACKER page, but the dream is certainly to make it as easy as possible for backers to send their support, so your idea is great! Thanks :)
