Apparency is one of those great niche Mac apps that's likely incredibly useful for a small subset of Mac developers and enthusiasts, and yet as it's feature-rich and well-made, might be of interest to a wider audience here.

Personally, I use it to Quick Look apps and other binary files quite often.

And, it's free and actively maintained!

Install it with Homebrew:

brew install --cask apparency

I think that’s a gem for developers and power users. Having all that app metadata a click away is very useful. Does it allow exporting reports for audits or debugging?

@roozbehfirouzΒ hmm, I don't think it supports exports. What would be the use case?

Randy Saldinger

@roozbehfirouzΒ There's no export feature per se. However, the bundled CLI tool does provide a way to generate a plain text summary from the Terminal. I don't know if that suits what you're trying to do, though.

This is super handyβ€”I always end up digging through binary files and Quick Look hasn’t cut it for me. Can’t believe it’s free AND works with Homebrew!

I found this app a few weeks ago and it has been incredibly helpful! An amazing time saver!
