Hey everyone! I've made it a goal for myself to take advantage of all the tools available to me right now, and try really hard to start creating new things and taking every little app idea I've normally shelved, and try to actually make it happen - and happen quick. This is technically my second app I've made this year, but the first I feel really ready about launching. It's still rough around the edges! lots of things I want to tidy up, things I will have to tackle sooner than later, but I also am so aware at how easy it is for me (and probably lots of people) to push off that final 'launch' button click, for increasingly senseless reasons. Hopefully it's the right time for this one! What sparked me making this was that I wanted to give a bartender friend of mine a birthday present, long story short, I made a little platformer in phaser and gave it to him that same night, made the (admittedly not very good) game in something like 4 hours? Of course, I was using Cursor - so it was surprisingly doable. But what slowed me down the MOST was trying to generate animating sprites. gpt-image-1 had recently come out, and was doing a decent job at generating spritesheets! But they were always so wonky, and I had to jump around and use so many different tools to get everything just right. Of the 4 hours, like 3 of them were dealing with the 2 animating sprites I had in my game. Mild exaggeration. Anyway, had a talk with a buddy of mine, we both have been playing with AI tools and thinking about the future of our industry (software development) for years, and have kind of been in the mindset that the best path forward is to be proactive. We like to share ideas and experiences, and I talked about this with him, and the juices got flowing - and here I am just over a month later? Time flies. I will be working on this for a very long time I think, I have some really great ideas - I want to fix up some low hanging fruit, bad UI around the project/spritesheets selection, performance issues I still want to fix with the canvas you see your spritesheets on. And just in general better management around assets... But after all that! One of the features I really want to right is the ability to generate a bunch of assets all at once, with the help of an agent you talk to about your game! I want to cover more assets than just animating sprites as well, and have lots of ideas for that. I'm going to take a mental break now haha, but I will be available if you have any questions, or any critiques! If you see anything you think I absolutely should fix, let me know, I'll get on it ASAP!
