Hello Hackers — I'm one of the humans behind Comic Messiah. I started Comic Messiah because I wanted my partner, Dan, to read more books. I love reading. And I would recommend her 2-3 new books every day. I just couldn't help but share so many amazing books that could help our startup, health & life-direction. Dan would nod. Open her Kindle. Read 1-2 pages of Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson. Get bored and stop reading. To be fair, most books are boring as hell. We've brainwashed ourselves into thinking all books are written well. But good books are an exception, not the rule. So, I stopped nagging Dan with more book recommendations, and I asked her: Satya: "Did you read chapter 3 of Elon Musk's biography?" "He talks about First-principles thinking. And how he used it in Tesla to cut 60% of costs!" Dan: "I didn't reach there." Satya: "Huh?" "I thought you were reading for the past 2 weeks?" Dan: "The book is quite boring actually." "It's too dense. Very rational. And doesn't make me excited to read." Satya: "Oh." "What makes you excited to read?" Dan: "I like content that has good characters, fast pacing, and stories that I can resonate with." "I loved reading Journey to the West. And even Chinese dramas." "I feel relaxed, happy to watch and learn." Satya: "Why don't we turn books into a similar format, then?" And that's how Comic Messiah was born. We are turning brilliant but boring books (7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Atomic Habits, Meditations) into manga-style comics. We aim to send 1–2 gospels a week. Easy to read. Kinda funny.
