Hi everyone!
Sharing Colab Agent, a new tool integrated directly into Google Colab that could seriously speed up data science workflows! It's powered by Gemini 2.0 and lets you generate entire, runnable Colab notebooks just by describing your analysis goals in natural language.
Here's how it works:
1. Upload Data: CSV, JSON, or .txt files (up to 1GB).
2. Describe Your Goal: Tell it what you want to do (e.g., "visualize trends," "build a prediction model," "clean the data").
3. Get a Notebook: The agent generates a complete Colab notebook with the necessary code, libraries, and analysis.
It's a full workflow, ready to run and customize. It can handle things like:
✨ Data Cleaning: Filling in missing values.
📊 Visualization: Creating charts and graphs.
🧮 Statistical Analysis: Calculating correlations, etc.
🤖 Machine Learning: Training models (like random forests).
It's free to use in Colab (with some compute limits, of course), and supports multiple languages. It achieves 4th place on the DABStep benchmark for data science agents.

@shadmannazim It would be super cool! But yeah, figuring out how to charge for that integration could be tricky for Google...

@shadmannazim Free for GCP clients, for sure.👀

@german_merlo1 Absolutely. Google isn't about the hype, they always bring us some handy surprises.

Data analysts must use this ASAP
It's really cool stuff. I just recently read about it. It's actually amazing that it's free on top of all that
This is really cool, most of the times you really want to just get going without rewriting import pandas* for the millionth time. I look forward to try this to get to modelling and refining much much faster

A solid win for data professionals....
As a data scientist in my day job, I was looking for something to speed up my analysis. But of course, using it all the time might make me "forget" how to write code. Nowdays I am concerned about forgetting as technology advances. I will give it a try. Good luck!
