Hélène Riquier

Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I'm Hélène, co-founder of 13 Virtues.

A few years ago, I was drowning in personal development advice. "Be more productive." "Be a better person." "Be more resilient." But better at what, exactly? Nobody could tell me.

Then I discovered Benjamin Franklin's virtue system from 1726. He identified 13 specific virtues—Temperance, Silence, Order, Sincerity, Justice, and others—and tracked them daily for many years. It worked because it was concrete. No vague "be better." Just clear targets.

My partner Julien (the dev behind this) and I built 13 Virtues to bring this system into the modern world. We've spent months researching each virtue, writing guides that translate 18th-century wisdom into practical, relatable language.

What we've created:
- Daily tracking following Franklin's exact 13-week cycle method
- Morning & evening reflection prompts
- Deep-dive PDF describing each virtue with modern interpretations
- Self-evaluation questions to measure real progress (not just feel-good checkboxes)
- Pattern recognition to see where you consistently struggle—and where you're improving

This isn't another productivity hack. It's about building character through deliberate practice.

We're launching with a free tier so anyone can start. For those who want the full guided experience (PDF, advanced reflections, insights), we have a lifetime option at $79 (normally $99).

I'd love your honest feedback, especially on:
- The balance between simplicity and depth
- Is the concept immediately clear, or do you feel confused at first glance?
- What you feel is missing?

Thank you for being here on launch day. It means everything. 🙏

Hello 👋

Co-founder & developer here!

We built 13 Virtues to be intentionally calm — no streaks, no badges, no notifications begging for your attention.
Just Franklin's 300-year-old system, modernized.

Happy to answer anything about the product, the philosophy, or the tech (Laravel + Vue + Tailwind, nothing fancy).

What would make you actually stick with a self-improvement tool long-term?
Curious what's worked or failed for others.

Mélissa

Most habit trackers feel like work. This feels like actual growth. The difference is the depth — each virtue has clear definitions and meaningful questions. Not just "did you do it?" but "why did you struggle with this?

Hélène Riquier

@lemaitre Thank you Mélissa for this thoughtful feedback :-)
That distinction is exactly what we were aiming for — less performance, more awareness and real growth.
Your comment really resonates with our intent.

Laure Philippette

It feels calmer and more intentional than most self-improvement apps. That’s a big plus for me.

Hélène Riquier

@laure_philippette Thank you Laure, that’s really nice to hear.
We wanted 13 Virtues to feel like a pause, not another thing shouting for attention.
