Pianolyze helps you figure out what’s happening in your favorite music. Upload a recording to separate the instruments and see their notes on an interactive piano roll. Isolate a bass line, slow down and loop a tricky passage, or mute a part and play along. Select a section to ask AI about its chords, rhythm, or how the parts fit together. Export the transcription as MIDI to keep working in your DAW or notation software.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Nick here, back with Pianolyze 2.
When I first launched Pianolyze, it did one thing: transcribe piano recordings into notes you could see and follow in your browser. As a pianist, I built it to figure out what was happening under my favorite players' hands. How did they voice that chord? How did they move through those changes?
People started using it, and one question kept coming up: "When will it work with more than just piano?"
Now it does. Upload a full recording, separate the instruments, and explore what each part is playing. Here’s what you can do:
Isolate an instrument to hear what it’s doing, or mute it and play along with the rest of the recording.
See the notes as they play, with each instrument in its own color.
Slow down and loop a passage until you can hear it clearly and play it yourself.
Select a passage and ask AI about it. Which notes make up that chord? How does the bass line fit the harmony? Ask follow-up questions as you work through it.
Export MIDI to keep working in your DAW or notation software.
Come back to your work. Your recordings and analyses are now saved, so you can pick up where you left off instead of starting over.
Adding all these new features also meant moving beyond the original technical vision. I was proud that the first version ran entirely on your device: no uploads, no servers, no inference bills. But the new capabilities pushed beyond what I could reasonably run in the browser. Audio processing now runs on cloud GPUs, so recordings are uploaded rather than kept entirely on your device. You still use Pianolyze in your browser, with nothing to install.
If you learn songs by ear, study recordings, or want to borrow a little of your favorite musicians’ vocabulary, that’s what I built this for. You can try a preview of your own recording free, with no card required. There are song passes for individual recordings and monthly plans for regular use.
Thanks to everyone who tried the original and asked for more. What’s a recording you’ve always wanted to figure out? Happy to answer questions! 🎹
