AnPyer — Jupyter notebooks on Android: A real Jupyter kernel on Android. Offline, no pip, no server

Hey Product Hunt 👋 AnPyer dev here. AnPyer started as a side project with a simple itch: I wanted Jupyter notebooks on my phone that felt like Typora — open the file, it just works. No server, no terminal, no setting anything up. Thanks to Chaquopy and cibuildwheel, that part worked out. The IPython kernel (CPython 3.13) runs inside the app’s own process. NumPy, pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib and 45+ packages are preinstalled, and standard `.ipynb` files open on phone and laptop alike. Then I added two things that I think change what a notebook *is* on a phone: 1. **AI that works inside the notebook** — it reads your cells, drafts code, and can run it, but only with your permission. You can hide or lock any cell from it. 2. **Frontend rendering in markdown cells** — ECharts, Mermaid, Graphviz, function plots, SMILES. The AI can read a pandas result from one cell and plot an interactive chart in the next, with zero plotting code from you. So notebooks turn into your personal little apps. I have one where the AI wrote me a currency converter: I open it, hit “run all”, Python fetches live rates, and I convert. No app store, no ads, and I can tweak the logic any time. And when the data is worth showing someone, the same notebook becomes a presentation: run the analysis in your Python cell, let the AI plot an interactive ECharts graph in the next markdown cell, go full screen, cast it to a TV, and make your point to the room. That’s why I call it a *calculator for the AI age* — a tool you own and shape, not a service you rent. **The honest part:** - No pip. Packages are preinstalled (requests welcome). - matplotlib renders static images; use ECharts/plotly for interactive. - arm64 Android only, closed source. - AI is BYOK — any OpenAI-compatible key, pay-as-you-go. Without a key, the app makes zero network requests. $4.99 one-time. No login, no ads, no IAP, no telemetry. Like a calculator, you buy it, you own it.
