Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
I'm Sagar, the creator of Doc2Contact, and I'm super excited to share it with you all today!
🤔 What inspired me to build this?
We've all been there: someone hands you a printed list of 40-50 contacts from an event, a school directory, a society roster, or a vendor list. Adding them to your phone means squinting at the paper, typing 10-digit numbers manually, fixing typos, and wasting 30+ minutes of your day. I wanted a tool where I could just snap a picture and have all those numbers ready to save in 5 seconds.
🎯 What problem are we solving?
Standard scanner apps only dump messy, unformatted text that you still have to copy-paste one by one. Traditional card scanner apps only handle single business cards, not full lists or tables. Doc2Contact specifically bridges this gap: it extracts structured names and numbers from full sheets, PDFs, and spreadsheets, normalizes the phone codes, and lets you bulk save them directly into your device contacts or share them via WhatsApp in a single tap.
🔄 How our approach evolved:
When I first built the prototype, standard OCR kept failing on phone numbers—confusing 'O' with '0' or 'l' with '1'. I spent weeks engineering a smart phone-repair and parsing pipeline with AI assistance that recognizes digit lookalikes, pairs names with phone numbers reliably, and validates numbers across international formats. Along the way, we added:
• 120 FPS high-refresh-rate editing so reviewing 50+ contacts is butter-smooth
• WhatsApp-compatible vCards (vCard 2.1)
• Printable PDF export sheets
• An optional ₹99 one-time PRO unlock to remove all ads
I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and feature suggestions! What kinds of documents would you love to scan next?
Thank you for your support! 🙏🚀
